OCD themes

When the content of your thoughts feels difficult to say out loud.

OCD can attach itself to what you value most, making thoughts feel alarming, shameful, or deeply inconsistent with who you are. Having an intrusive thought is not the same as wanting to act on it.

Treatment does not try to prove with certainty what each thought means. It focuses on changing the cycle of obsession, checking, reassurance seeking, avoidance, and rituals, with careful assessment of your individual circumstances.

Harm OCD
Unwanted fears of causing harm, losing control, or being responsible for something terrible, often followed by checking, avoidance, mental review, or reassurance seeking.
Sexual-themed OCD
Distressing sexual thoughts, images, sensations, or doubts that feel inconsistent with your values and can lead to monitoring, testing, avoidance, or repeated attempts to feel certain.
Taboo, moral & religious themes
Intrusive thoughts involving morality, religion, identity, relationships, or other personally sensitive subjects, with shame and self-judgment often becoming part of the OCD cycle.
Magical thinking
A sense that a thought, number, word, image, or repeated action could prevent an unrelated feared event, even when another part of you recognizes that the connection may not make sense.
Health anxiety & hypochondriasis
Persistent fears about illness that may involve body checking, symptom research, repeated medical reassurance, or avoiding health information. Care begins by distinguishing the OCD cycle from medical concerns that warrant appropriate evaluation.

If you have avoided discussing certain thoughts because you fear being judged, we can approach them with care, respect, and a specialized understanding of OCD.
